Physics Simulation and model science or quantum computing

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on a computer science undergraduate seeking guidance on pursuing a master's in quantum computing or simulation sciences, with a focus on job opportunities in these fields. There is a concern about the job market for quantum computing, which is currently in a growth phase but remains smaller compared to machine learning (ML). ML is highlighted as a more established field, often applied in biology, which may present more job opportunities. The individual expresses a desire to gather more information about essential subjects for admission into relevant master's programs, indicating a need for clarity on prerequisites and the academic path to take.

I am a computer science under graduate,I am more interested in scientific research, so I am preparing to enrol myself masters in quantum computing or simulation sciences. before i join i want to research what are the scope and job opportunities are available for simulation sciences(like computational physics or biology) and quantum computing?I am good in programming and I enjoy both physics and biology. please help me decide.

I lack confidence that quantum computing will have much of a job market in the next decade.

Quantum computing is currently in what appears to be a growth phase, although it's significantly smaller than machine learning. ML is essentially "statistical modeling for CS majors", and many groups use biology as an application area for ML models. Have you considered that option?

Nope. I have to know more things on this topic.trying to get as much as information on this. As of now, the universities I inquired, they admit students for this these courses with computer science degree. So if I want to get in, what are the essential subjects i have to take?

I don't know if anyone on here works for any of the well known defense companies of your country, whichever country you are from?? Also, if you choose to work in one, do you think the engineering education provide from your school would adequately prepare you for the job. What do I mean by that? Well if you work at say Lockheed Martin and you work in the latest iteration of a missile or if you work at Pratt & Whitney, they assign you to work in the team helping out with building the jet...
Hello, I graduated from undergrad a few years ago with a Major in Physics and minor in Electrical Engineering. I tried to get experience working on and testing circuits through my professor who studied Neutrinos, however covid caused the opportunity to go away and I graduated with no experience or internships. I have attempted to break into the engineering industry with no success. Right now I am considering going for a Masters in Electrical Engineering and I need advice on if this would be...
So lately, my interest in the realm of optics/optoelectronics/photonics engineering has grown and I have started to seriously consider pursuing a career in the field. I have done a bit of career research and also have done some learning on the side to gather more knowledge on these topics. However, I have some questions on what a career in these fields would look like, and I wanted to find out more about this area to know what I would be getting myself into if I did make the choice to pursue...
