Homework Statement


Two snowcats tow and emergency shelter to a new location near McMurdo Station, Antartica. (the top view is shown. the cables are horizontal.) The total force F'a +F'b exerted on the shelter is in the direction parallel to the line L and its magnitude is 400lbs. Graphically determine the magnitudes of F'a and F'b.

just letting you know, no one is going to help you unless you show some work so that when someone who can actually help you checks your post; they can help you out w/o saying what I'm telling you know right now (and wasting more time).
 
no thanks! figured it out already!
 
To solve this, I first used the units to work out that a= m* a/m, i.e. t=z/λ. This would allow you to determine the time duration within an interval section by section and then add this to the previous ones to obtain the age of the respective layer. However, this would require a constant thickness per year for each interval. However, since this is most likely not the case, my next consideration was that the age must be the integral of a 1/λ(z) function, which I cannot model.
