Source for t and pi networks in control systems

I couldn't find any specific reading material for T and PI network based compensation in control systems. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. If you happen to know something about this, please do reply to this thread.

I don't know much on this, but these are usually notch or bandpass filters. So abstractly (ignore circuit topology), how would a notch filter help you in a feedback system? I ask this not knowing the answer, I'm just curious what your application would be.
