AI Thread Summary
Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) emerged in the early 1980s and were a popular means of online communication until the early 1990s. BBS allowed users to connect via telephone lines to share messages, files, and engage in discussions, often with a focus on local communities. These systems were typically more monitored than modern internet forums, fostering a sense of community among users. While BBS has largely been replaced by the internet and modern communication platforms, some still exist today, catering to niche interests. For further information, resources such as Wikipedia and various history websites provide detailed insights into the evolution and significance of BBS.

Reportedly back in the olden days there was a system of communicating known as BBS. I guess it started in the early 80s and ended in the early 90s. Being a spring chicken I know nothing about this.
