It always seems that historic figures like this are so much more classy and respectable than current public figures. I suspect that someday historians will promote the greatness of some modern day figures that go largely unnoticed.
 
Having never heard of the man before, I can't rightly speak with authority about him, but judging from the articles it does seem he was a quality guy.
