AI Thread Summary
The user is experiencing issues generating cross-section data from a HELIOS output file using the GENPMAXS code, as it gets stuck on "reading Cross-section data." Suggestions for resolving this issue include checking the new GENPMAXS site at the University of Michigan, as the link provided leads to an outdated Purdue site. The new site offers support options, including an email for direct assistance. Users are encouraged to reach out for help regarding the preparation of the XS file for PARCS. Seeking support from the updated resources may provide the necessary guidance to resolve the problem.

TL;DR Summary
PARCS, GENPMAXS, XS
hello everybody
i have PARCS code and XS generator GENPMAXS. I am trying to generate XS from HELIOS output file (example output file given with GENPMAXS code).
i am unable to do it. everytime it shows "reading Cross-section data" and do nothing.
anybody working on that code, kindly give me some suggestions for preparation of XS file for PARCS.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

I can't answer your question directly, but the link you gave points to the old Purdue site.
You may want to look at the new site at Michigan:

There is an e-mail on the webpage to send support questions.

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
