I am a graduate student in physics.

Can someone recommend a book that explores transport phenomena or diffusion from a physical sciences (instead of engineering) point of view? I would like that because I'm not dealing with industrial equipment and don't want to spend chapters wading through heat exchanger design, but rather need to learn more about the basic science of diffusion and mass transfer in materials and in solution so I can get started on optimizing lab scale processes where I only can rely more or less on natural phenomena.

It would be great if the book also had complete solutions so I could check my answers.

The book is fascinating. If your education includes a typical math degree curriculum, with Lebesgue integration, functional analysis, etc, it teaches QFT with only a passing acquaintance of ordinary QM you would get at HS. I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it.
