AI Thread Summary
The U-value of standard glass varies significantly, with sources citing figures between 1.08 and 5.4. U-value measures a material's insulation effectiveness, being the inverse of R-value. For a single pane window made of ordinary 1/4" glass, a commonly accepted U-value is approximately 1. It's important to verify the specific type of glass and its thickness, as these factors influence the U-value. Accurate information is essential for assessing energy efficiency in building materials.

hey guys just a quick question
Does anyone know the u value of jusy normal glass?
Ive looked everywhere and I've got different answers on source says 5.4 and another says something like 1.08, 5.5 seems pretty high but i think id better find out for sure thanks for any reply's:)

What is a U-value?

U value is the inverse of R value which is a measurment of how well a material insulates

For a single pane window with plain, ordinary 1/4" glass, I use a u-value of around 1. Here's a table I just googled: http://www.calglassbending.com/secptabl.htm

Thread 'Question about pressure of a liquid'
I am looking at pressure in liquids and I am testing my idea. The vertical tube is 100m, the contraption is filled with water. The vertical tube is very thin(maybe 1mm^2 cross section). The area of the base is ~100m^2. Will he top half be launched in the air if suddenly it cracked?- assuming its light enough. I want to test my idea that if I had a thin long ruber tube that I lifted up, then the pressure at "red lines" will be high and that the $force = pressure * area$ would be massive...
I feel it should be solvable we just need to find a perfect pattern, and there will be a general pattern since the forces acting are based on a single function, so..... you can't actually say it is unsolvable right? Cause imaging 3 bodies actually existed somwhere in this universe then nature isn't gonna wait till we predict it! And yea I have checked in many places that tiny changes cause large changes so it becomes chaos........ but still I just can't accept that it is impossible to solve...
