AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on solving a tension question for an online assignment, with the user expressing urgency after multiple unsuccessful attempts. The user believes that statement one is true and that the tension at point B is greater than at point A due to the higher mass being pulled. Another participant confirms the user's reasoning about the tension and provides reassurance, which boosts the user's confidence to submit the solution. Ultimately, the user reports that their answers were correct after submission. The interaction highlights the importance of peer support in academic problem-solving.

URGENT
the question is form an online assignment

i have already spent 5/6 tries...so this try is crucial to get the right answer

from my understanding 1 is true and 2 is equal to because the acceleration and v are the same throughout the system. For tension i think at point B it is greater than point A because it has to pull higher mass. I need some reassurance because this is my last try. would be very helpful if someone could help me out. TY

Your answers sound correct to me. Note you have "true" in the second one right now, but what you said about "equal" seems correct.

TY very much for you reassurance, it gave me the confidence to submit those solution. They were right.

funny how you username sounds so much like my physics' profs name ;p

I multiplied the values first without the error limit. Got 19.38. rounded it off to 2 significant figures since the given data has 2 significant figures. So = 19. For error I used the above formula. It comes out about 1.48. Now my question is. Should I write the answer as 19±1.5 (rounding 1.48 to 2 significant figures) OR should I write it as 19±1. So in short, should the error have same number of significant figures as the mean value or should it have the same number of decimal places as...
Thread 'A cylinder connected to a hanging mass'
Let's declare that for the cylinder, mass = M = 10 kg Radius = R = 4 m For the wall and the floor, Friction coeff = ##\mu## = 0.5 For the hanging mass, mass = m = 11 kg First, we divide the force according to their respective plane (x and y thing, correct me if I'm wrong) and according to which, cylinder or the hanging mass, they're working on. Force on the hanging mass $$mg - T = ma$$ Force(Cylinder) on y $$N_f + f_w - Mg = 0$$ Force(Cylinder) on x $$T + f_f - N_w = Ma$$ There's also...
