What Are Some Product Ideas for Combining Metal Forming and Machining Processes?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on generating product ideas that integrate metal forming and machining processes for a manufacturing project. Suggestions include car parts due to their versatility, but the relevance of the product to the specific company's existing offerings is emphasized. Understanding the company's focus is crucial for proposing suitable products, as unrelated suggestions may not be beneficial. The conversation highlights the importance of aligning product ideas with the company's manufacturing capabilities and market needs. Overall, the goal is to create a product that effectively utilizes both metal forming and machining techniques.

Hi everyone,

I have a project in which I have to introduce a new product into a companies manufacturing setup. The product has to include at least one of the following processes, metal forming, casting and at least one from the machining processes such as milling, drilling and turning.
The type of product and the manufacture of the product should be outlined and include all aspects of the manufacturng method, including materials, processing methods, and sketches and drawings if neccessary.

Just looking for a few tips on products I could use.

Regards,

That's a good idea, with a tremendous versatility to it. I wonder, though, if Locky is referring to a specific company. If so, it would be rather important to know what they make. If their product line consists solely of marine anchor mechanisms, a fender won't be too helpful.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
I have an engine that uses a dry sump oiling system. The oil collection pan has three AN fittings to use for scavenging. Two of the fittings are approximately on the same level, the third is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch higher than the other two. The system ran for years with no problem using a three stage pump (one pressure and two scavenge stages). The two scavenge stages were connected at times to any two of the three AN fittings on the tank. Recently I tried an upgrade to a four stage pump...
