AI Thread Summary
Top-tier scientific journals for publication in specific medical fields include Nature and Science, recognized for their high-profile results across various disciplines. In the field of heart surgery, anesthesia, and cardiovascular medicine, these journals are considered prestigious. For neuroscience, particularly focusing on pain, stress responses, and behavioral brain studies, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, and the Journal of Neurophysiology are highly regarded. These journals are essential for establishing the credibility of research and are often referenced for their significant impact in the respective fields.

I apologize for this simple question, but maybe some of you dedicates medical experts can give me a quick answer to this? I think this is the right section.

What scientific journals, among international top-3 or so would you think a researcher would rather get published in these fields?

- (Heart)surgery

- Anasthesia

- Medicin (focus on the heart/blood)?

- Neuroscience? pain/stress responses and behavioural brain neuroscience learning disorders

The reason I ask is that I am not that familiar with these journals and I am assembling a reference list to produce an argument for the reputation of a measurement system. The question is which references from what journals of that system that would generally be considered having most status?

Nature and Science publish the most high profile results in these fields. For neuroscience, (my field) other very well respected journals, roughly in order from more prestige to less, are:

Neuron
Nature Neuroscience
Journal of Neurophysiology

I am reading Nicholas Wade's book A Troublesome Inheritance. Please let's not make this thread a critique about the merits or demerits of the book. This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
I use ethanol for cleaning glassware and resin 3D prints. The glassware is sometimes used for food. If possible, I'd prefer to only keep one grade of ethanol on hand. I've made sugar mash, but that is hardly the least expensive feedstock for ethanol. I had given some thought to using wheat flour, and for this I would need a source for amylase enzyme (relevant data, but not the core question). I am now considering animal feed that I have access to for 20 cents per pound. This is a...
