AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around innovative ideas for eco-friendly air-conditioning, with participants expressing curiosity about new concepts. One contributor highlights the importance of patents, suggesting that individuals with novel ideas are unlikely to share them publicly due to potential financial gains from patent protection. Another participant mentions an innovative design involving ice-powered cooling, indicating a practical approach to eco-friendly air conditioning. The original poster clarifies they seek existing patented ideas that industries may not be utilizing due to concerns about productivity or further investigation. Overall, the conversation emphasizes the balance between innovation and the protection of intellectual property.

Any new IDEA anyone have in your mind can post over here.
Whatever be it will be appreciated and if I got something really new, it will be very helpful for me.

Any response will be highly appreciated...

subha_iit, Welcome to Physics Forums.

I am surprised by your question! In my country there is a Patent Office which grants patents for new inventions. We consider that if we are granted a patent then we have exclusive rights (a monopoly) on that process/mechanism/or recepie for about 20 years.

Now, if anyone has a new, novel idea for an air conditioner, why do you expect they would give it to you, and to thousands of other people here in public on the internet? I expect that person would apply for patent protection (the application process is secret) of his idea. There is an obvious possible financial gain to be realized.

What is the context of your question? Is this for a design project for school?

One of the more innovative designs I've seen is ice-powered (plus a battery-powered fan). Stick ice in the ice chest, and cool off

BobbyWhy@ Thanks for your response, but for your clarification, I am not asking for any patent but any new idea that is already patented, but industries are not feeling comfortable to use these as it may not be so productive or much more investigation needed on these.

Anyway, People using internet are aware of the patents, so anyway not only in your country, but for every country people always apply for patent if that is completely new and non-existing.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
