AI Thread Summary
The senior lecturer requested a skeleton for a reference letter, emphasizing the importance of detailing the nature of interactions, including the duration and context of the relationship. It's crucial to specify how long the lecturer has known the student and in what capacities, such as courses taught and other interactions. The student did not include their thesis advisor as a referee for some programs and is considering contacting the admissions team to request an invitation for the advisor. Clarifying the nature of the relationship in the letter can strengthen the recommendation. Effective communication with admissions can facilitate the inclusion of additional referees.

One of my senior lecturers has asked me to give me him a skeleton of the reference letter I want him to write describing the nature of our interactions. I am not really sure what to mention in my description. What does he mean when he says 'nature of interaction'?

In a letter of recommendation, it is important to state in which capacity the recommender has known the recommendee. Mention how long he/she has known you, how many course they have taught you, in what other contexts you have interacted, etc.

I did not include my thesis advisor in my list of referees for some programs. Is it possible to request the admissions team (by phone) to request an invitation to be sent to his email address?

It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
