AI Thread Summary
After undergoing a Septoplasty for a deviated septum, a patient is experiencing a painful red patch under their left eye during recovery. They seek advice on the potential cause of this symptom and inquire about a nurse's hotline for medical guidance, noting difficulty in securing a timely appointment due to local availability. Responses suggest that the irritation might stem from surgical contact with the face, and recommend visiting the doctor’s office directly for evaluation. It's emphasized that surgical procedures can be rough, which may contribute to post-operative symptoms.

Friday I had a surgery called Septoplasty, for a deviated septum. I have been recuperating, and I noticed this red patch developing under my left eye. It is painful when touched.

I am wondering if any of you might know what this is, or if there is any sort of "nurse's hotline" I can call for medical advice. I would never be able to get an appointment in the next week - most places around here are booked 2-3 weeks out.

Your doctor's office should have an answering service that will either get you to the doctor or a nurses line, etc...

It could be irritation from things on your face during surgery, but, we don't know. If nothing else, just walk into your doctor's office and show them.

be interesting to see what your doc says. but if you ever see any vids of surgeons working, it's hardly a gentle art.

I am reading Nicholas Wade's book A Troublesome Inheritance. Please let's not make this thread a critique about the merits or demerits of the book. This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
I use ethanol for cleaning glassware and resin 3D prints. The glassware is sometimes used for food. If possible, I'd prefer to only keep one grade of ethanol on hand. I've made sugar mash, but that is hardly the least expensive feedstock for ethanol. I had given some thought to using wheat flour, and for this I would need a source for amylase enzyme (relevant data, but not the core question). I am now considering animal feed that I have access to for 20 cents per pound. This is a...
