AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on helping Richard's nephew identify two suitable jobs for his career plan, focusing on subjects he is interested in: technology and design, biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Richard emphasizes the need for well-paid positions that involve hands-on work, such as experiments and project creation. Initially considering medicine, the nephew is uncertain about his suitability for the field. Suggestions include biomedical engineering, particularly in areas like prosthetics and electronic interfaces. Ultimately, Richard's nephew decides to pursue chemical engineering and medicine for his career interview, along with related job options to enhance his application.

My nephew needs a bit of help in finding 2 jobs to write about for his career plan, he knows what subjects he wants to do at a level but can't find any jobs that fit the subjects.

The subjects he would like to do are,

Technology and design
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Mathematics, he mightn't be able to do this one but would like a job with some maths based parts.

What jobs would fit these subjects well?

Thanks
Richard

ps, he wanted me to say that he wants it to be well paid, lol

Looks like he's covered the engineering disciplines as well as the sciences. This question is so broad that unless your nephew does just a little bit of his own work, we're not going to be able to help you.

I asked him and he says that he would like something that involves a bit of hands on work, eg. experiments, making projects in technology etc.
He would be inclined to like to know how things work etc.
He had thought about medicine and I have no doubt he could get the grades for it, however he's not sure whether he character?/attitude for it?, hope you understand what I mean, I didn't speak english as my first language so find it hard to explain things like that.

Thanks
Richard

PS, I will talk to him later once he's in from school

Perhaps biomedical engineering, researching and/or making prosthetics with electronic interfaces with the brain (yes, I know not in this aticle but a logical extension of it).http://huffduffer.com/Clampants/44572"

Thanks Dave,

What sort of jobs combine chemistry, technology and maths.

Thanks
Richard

Sorry for asking stupid questions but the kid can't make his mind up.

Anyone?

I had a chat with him about this, even got a friend who works in HR and all that jazz to try and get this sorted out.

We eventually just came up with the idea of putting down 2 general jobs in the areas/fields he would like to work in, its only for a careers/subject choice interview for his 6th year application.

Thaks
Richard

He's decided to go for, Chemical Engineering and Medicine with a couple of related jobs to bulk out his careers interview.

Thanks
Richard
