Why is Thunderbird showing a 'rejected' error when sending outgoing mail?

AI Thread Summary
The Thunderbird mail client is generating an error message when attempting to send emails, indicating that the server has rejected the outgoing message due to the IP address being listed on a DNS blacklist (dnsbl.sorbs.net). This issue may stem from incorrect security settings or configurations. Users are advised to verify their email address in the Mail preferences and consult their university's website for specific instructions on setting up Thunderbird or other mail clients to ensure proper settings are in place. The error appears to be new for the user, suggesting that previous configurations may have been successful.

For those who use the Thunderbird mail client, I'm wondering why this message pops up every time I try to send an outgoing message. I'm accessing my university e-mail accounts by accessing their servers as IMAP servers. Here is the error message I get after clicking 'send.'

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 Rejected 24.86.226.249 found in dnsbl.sorbs.net. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Well have you ever successfully sent mail on your school's server or is this a new error? If not, I'd say it's probably your security settings. You should try to search your university's website for explicit instructions for setting up Thunderbird or another mail client so you can mimic the settings.

It's a new error. I alreday set up Thunderbird the first time around using explicit instructions on the university website. That having been said, I'll look into it.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
