Why we haven't any connection other than Delta or star in 3phase

AI Thread Summary
Delta and Star connections dominate 3-phase systems due to their balanced load distribution, which enhances efficiency and reliability. These configurations allow for easy conversion between each other, providing flexibility for various industrial applications. While alternative connections like zig-zag and open delta exist, they are less common due to their complexity and cost. The simplicity and cost-effectiveness of Delta and Star connections contribute to their widespread adoption. Future advancements in technology may lead to the exploration of additional connection types.

Is it even theoretically possible to have another connection?

Extended delta is one connection.
Scott connection is another connection.
Open delta is another connection.
Zigzag is another connectiion

Double Y, double delta, open delta, & dual secondary w/ one Y & one delta phased for 12-phase rectification. There are creative combinations that people have come up with. Also, as stated above, a zig-zag is a useful connection. It allows the creation of an optimum ground point/node.

There are several reasons why we primarily use Delta or Star connections in 3-phase systems. One reason is that these connections provide a balanced load distribution, which is important for efficient power transmission. This means that the voltage and current are evenly distributed among the three phases, reducing the strain on individual components and increasing the overall reliability of the system.

Another reason is that Delta and Star connections can easily be converted into each other, allowing for flexibility in power distribution. This is particularly useful in industrial settings where different types of equipment may require different types of connections.

Additionally, these connections are relatively simple and cost-effective to implement, making them a popular choice in power systems. Other types of connections, such as Y or T connections, may have specific applications but are not as widely used due to their complexity and cost.

Overall, the Delta and Star connections have proven to be reliable and efficient choices for 3-phase power systems, which is why they are the most commonly used connections in this type of system. However, as technology and power needs continue to evolve, it is possible that we may see the use of other types of connections in the future.

Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
Hello dear reader, a brief introduction: Some 4 years ago someone started developing health related issues, apparently due to exposure to RF & ELF related frequencies and/or fields (Magnetic). This is currently becoming known as EHS. (Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which adverse symptoms are attributed.) She experiences a deep burning sensation throughout her entire body, leaving her in pain and exhausted after a pulse has occurred...
