Right now we show that we have 197,293 PFers. Do we have any guesses as to the date and time that we hit the 200,000 mark?

The day that we hit 200,000 members will be the day we hit 200,000 members

Really though that's quite a lot of members for a science homework forum :-p. How fast is it growing that should allow us to better guess. Or would that be cheating?

I can tell you that we often see 200 new members per day, somtimes 300 [or nearly so], but it can vary quite a bit.

Wow.

Speaking of records: hey Ivan, did you get a special badge or gold star when you hit 10,000 posts? Should I prepare a speech?

Do you mean beyond the $10,000 that Greg sent me? Nope.

Should I prepare a speech?

Yes, but only because it is always good to have a speech ready.

Correction: Greg sent a bill for $10,000, not a check. My mistake.

Yeah but you had to give it back once you reached the 10,001 post fine.

Oh yeah, that was it.

I'm guessing April 18th in the afternoon.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, this is the largest physics discussion forum on the internet. All the other science forums I've come across have little to no activity.

In what time zone? Or did you intend to keep that option open?

No. We have been climbing since day 1. From time to time, Greg purges the database, which drops up to about 10,000-15,000 members, IIRC, but we have never passed the 200,000 mark.

Also notable we just beat our previous record for posts in a day from 2045 to 2071!

The uncertainty of your measurement is unacceptable!

Ivan, I motion for Char's prediction to be removed from the record and for all further input from him to be considered inadmissible!

Hmm... you might be right, let me change my uncertainty. It was caused by an extremely slow convergence with an extremely large error anyway.

Do we have any more predictions? We should probably cut this off at the end of the day, Saturday [PDT].

I should have jumped on that time. Exactly 58 years after the issuance of my birth certificate. I thought that Sunday chat might spur a little spike, though.
