AI Thread Summary
Wireless USB technology exists but has not gained widespread adoption, primarily due to Bluetooth's earlier introduction. For connecting a printer to a laptop without needing a new Wi-Fi printer, options include using a Bluetooth USB printer server or a Wi-Fi printer server, which offers better performance and faster data transfer rates. This setup allows for direct printing without requiring a PC to be on, simplifying the printing process. A USB Wi-Fi adapter can also be added to the laptop if it lacks built-in Wi-Fi capabilities.

is there such a thing as a wireless usb to usb. for example i want to connect my printer to my laptop and it would be really easy if i could simply plug a thing into the usb input on my laptop and plug a thing into the usb of the printer and it would work essentially as a wireless usb cable.

basicaly I am not to hot with computers and i can't get my head around printer sharing. also its not ideal to have to have my PC on when i need to print something, it wuold be much better with a direct link to the printer without having to by a new wifi printer.

There is a wireless USB standard but it has never really caught on because Bluetooth got there first.
You can buy either a bluetooth USB printer server or a wifi (better) one for your printer and then connect using the either the built-in wifi in your laptop or adding a usb wifi adaptor.

Actually it's just starting to take over, and if I recall correctly it's has a much faster data-transfer rate to be compared to bluetooth.

Thanks, guys.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
