AI Thread Summary
A woman who had been blind for 25 years regained her sight after experiencing a heart attack. The discussion centers on the possible mechanisms behind this phenomenon, with suggestions that the heart attack may have relieved pressure on the optic nerve due to stress or medication administered during her treatment. There is skepticism regarding the role of blood vessels, as irreversible damage typically occurs with prolonged low blood pressure, which can lead to vision loss. The conversation highlights the complexities of vision restoration and the potential impact of sudden medical events on sensory functions.

I don't know, maybe the stress or medication that was administered relieved pressure on the eye nerve. I don't think it could have anything to do with bloodvessels, since damage would have been irreversible (people who undergo bouts of low blood pressure can lose sight because of that reason).

This thread is my attempt to understanding the evidence that Natural Selection in the human genome was recent and regional. On Page 103 of A Troublesome Inheritance, Wade writes the following: "The regional nature of selection was first made evident in a genomewide scan undertaken by Jonathan Pritchard, a population geneticist at the...
