Optimizing Surface Area for Cornflakes Box Design

I have been given a problem of taking an object (I used a Cornflakes Box) and finding the optimal surface area compared to its volume (volume and ratio between sides constant) I got: Cornflakes Box : Length = 25cm Height = 36 cm Width = 9 cm Optimal Surface area box: Length = 17.3...

Is the Antiderivative of 1/x Actually ln(x)?

ive been trying to do this problem and its annoying! The function to be integrated: 1 + 1/x + x dx Interval: [8,2] when anti differentiating the fuction i get x + x^2/2 + lnx but i don't...

    Solve 37 x 0.785 w/ Logarithms (Base 10, e & 5)

oh my god thanks a lot Ivy. the help was so much appreciated! what can i say our teacher is a bit backwards in teaching methods. we basically have to figure out log numbers without calculators and slide rules! once again thanks

    Solve 37 x 0.785 w/ Logarithms (Base 10, e & 5)

im sick of logs use base and index steps to show the answer to 37 x 0.785 using logarithms with a base of 10, e and 5. i just want to know how to start this problem. thanks in advance

Explain the difference of hyodrogen ions

The pH of a solution is determined by the value of -log[H] where [H] is the molar concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution The pH of water is 7, the pH of an acid is 3 and the pH of a strong base solution is 11. Explain the difference of hyodrogen ions in each of these solutions i...

Calculate Heat Value: Chemistry Problem Solved

ok...a burner containing 16.95g liquid fuel is used to heat 200g water in a beaker from 25 degrees to 44 degrees. assuming that half the heat produced is lost to its surroundings, calculate the heat value of the fuel in kg to the negative gram... some chemistry problem but i can't find...

Black holes with nothing left to ingest.

black holes are weird We can't prove anything about the black holes, because they just don't work with our physics. once u enter a black hole, the speed of light will be different, etc. We can only assume that there is an event horizon, because we have no proof (apart from very distant photos)...

    Earth's Magnetic Field Weakening

i read about that somewhere else. it is due to swap in the next couple of 1000's of years (i think), and it would be interesting to see a compass point the other way!

Is the Universe's Shape Just a Matter of Perception?

the universe would be soccer shaped. think about it. at the time of the big bang, energy blasted from every direction, in 2D a circle and in 3D a sphere, just like a soccer ball that keeps expanding
