Is there an equation for horsepower?
that was a tip equation i got from someone else but they couldn't identify what the 33,000 was which is why I'm skeptical...So - There are 172,000 cubic ft. of water and 1 cubic feet of water=28.32 kg(approximately) AND 215 feet = 65.532 meters...- kriegera

Time on watch dependent on air temperature?
I did find something that used c = d / Δ t - where c was speed of sound so Δ t = d / c = 15,840/344.4 = 46 seconds but that seems too long a delay for three miles no? As far as thunder and lightning, lightning strikes first b/c it travels faster in air than sound. The speed of a sound...- kriegera

Confused on amperes in primary & secondary circuits
Homework Statement A transformer has 500 turns in its primary coil and 4000 turns in its secondary. (a) What will be the voltage in the secondary if the primary voltage is 110? (b) If 5 amperes flow through the secondary circuit of the transformer, what will the current in the primary be...- kriegera

Time on watch dependent on air temperature?
Still a little lost here: In general, at 68 F (20 C) sound travels at 1130 ft/sec (344.4 m/sec.) 3 miles = 15 840 feet 3 miles = 4 828.032 meters but not sure how to put it together in equation format?- kriegera

Velocity of sound in Carbon Diox vs. Air
How would you convert: 213.36 m/s into ft/s? Thanks for the tip! The speed of a gas also depends on its temperature. (Velocity increases with temperature. Temperature also affects density the higher the temp, the lower the density.) Therefore, the velocity of carbon dioxide would differ...- kriegera

Finding total resistance in parallel circuit
got it: For 50 Watt lamp R=110/.4545 = 242.0 Ω For 20 Watt lamp R=110/.1818 = 605.0 Ω For 75 Watt lamp R=110/.6818 = 161.3 Ω For 100 Watt lamp 110/.9090 = 121.0 Ω c.) To find total resistance of the circuit in parallel, use R=1/(1/242.0) + (1/605.0) + (1/161.3) + (1/121.0) =...- kriegera
