    Distillation column feed preheating

Refer to the attached drawing for more details . In this distillation column acetone is to be separated from a mixed feed coming at ambient temperature. It is a packed column with mellapack packings. Steam is used in the reboiler (thermo syphon) for heating. Details of these streams are...

Pump Transfer solutions for residual bulk removal in transfer line

Thanks for the reply. I did calculations for the line losses & pump head required. for 1" line, 5 m3/hr, head required is 41m 1" line, 3 m3/hr, head required is 21m 2" line, 5 m3/hr, head required is 10m I think air would not be able to provide that high pressure for transport.

Pump Transfer solutions for residual bulk removal in transfer line

QUERY/PROBLEM(refer to the attached file) Bulk is transferred from location A to B using a centrifugal pump. At the end of operation(when there is no bulk at the pump suction), bulk remaining in the discharge line(marked by Red) causes problem for the next batch(As next batch is of different...

Time Reduction for Batch transfer by using a pump

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is viscoelastic, basically vulkanox, a rubber melt. If the pump is kept closed to V18, losses would be too much(friction + drop across the filter) ans moreover preference is to keep the piping network same where the pump discharge would be joined to N2 uptake line...

Time Reduction for Batch transfer by using a pump

Refer to the attached image Overview The feed to V12 comes from distillation unit, where batch production rate is 16 Ton/day and at 220 degC. At first it is cooled to 160 degC in V12. Now this bulk is transferred from V12 to V18 using N2 gas pressure. All the transfer lines are jacketed...

    Chiller Water Loop Contamination

@Danger: I can say particulate matter from the mild steel pipings, @King: Only water is used, its a Air Cooled chiller system, the system is 4-5 years old just to clarify 7.5-8.5, 10-11 is the chiller loop inlet and outlet temp. respectively, and 12-14, 10-11 are the inlet and outlet resp. for...

    Chiller Water Loop Contamination

Hi Its an existing industrial problem. There is a chiller system and two separate Water Circulation loops are there for water flow. First: Piping of the Chiller ( Made of Copper), then Mild Steel Piping upto the storage vessel and the to plate heat exchanger (PHE). Second: Water...
