Courses Online Physics Course: 2 Month Short Course UK

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around finding a short online Physics course suitable for someone in the UK who has completed AS levels. The original poster is seeking a two-month course to enhance their university application. Responses suggest that such a specific course may not exist, but one participant mentions teaching an online Physics course from the USA that aligns with A level standards, although credit transfer could be problematic. Recommendations include exploring offerings from the Open University and considering self-study from textbooks as a viable alternative to demonstrate initiative and knowledge on university applications.

Hey,

Well the summer is coming up, and as usual I do not have a lot planned really, other than a few days in Switzerland, and my sporting commitments. I am located in the UK, and I am looking for a short course that can be done online in Physics (I would have completed my AS levels). I do not know if one actually exists, but it would need to be like a 2 month course. I've looked around, but with no success, there may be a possibility that some of you may have done one. It would be a nice thing to put on my University Application! If there is such a thing, I wonder if I could focus on certain parts of Physics.

Cheers _Mayday_

I will teach on online physics course from the USA this summer which is roughly the equivalent of A level or slightly higher.

Since you are in the UK system, it might be a hassle transferring credit, though. You should also check the Open University to see what they offer.

I don't think such a thing exists, Mayday. Perhaps instead you could self study something from a textbook over the summer. This would look good on your university application form (you could give a brief summary of what you've self studied on your personal statement, etc..)

Bit Britain-specific but I was wondering, what's the best path to take for A-Levels out of the following (I know Y10 seems a bit early to be thinking about A-levels, but my choice will impact what I do this year/ in y11) I (almost) definitely want to do physics at University - so keep that in mind... The subjects that I'm almost definitely going to take are Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I'm taking a fast track programme which means that I'll be taking AS computer science at the end...
After a year of thought, I decided to adjust my ratio for applying the US/EU(+UK) schools. I mostly focused on the US schools before, but things are getting complex and I found out that Europe is also a good place to study. I found some institutes that have professors with similar interests. But gaining the information is much harder than US schools (like you have to contact professors in advance etc). For your information, I have B.S. in engineering (low GPA: 3.2/4.0) in Asia - one SCI...
I graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2020. Since there were limited opportunities in my country (mostly teaching), I decided to improve my programming skills and began working in IT, first as a software engineer and later as a quality assurance engineer, where I’ve now spent about 3 years. While this career path has provided financial stability, I’ve realized that my excitement and passion aren’t really there, unlike what I felt when studying or doing research in physics. Working in IT...
