AI Thread Summary
For noise adjustment in motors, sound sensors are preferred due to their ability to detect low-level sounds. The discussion emphasizes the need for sensors that can handle minimal noise, suggesting piezoelectric types as effective options. Users are encouraged to explore modern alternatives to traditional methods, like stethoscopes, for better accuracy. Recommendations for specific products and companies are sought, with links provided for electronic engine stethoscopes. Overall, the focus is on finding a suitable sound sensor that meets the low sensitivity requirements.

I am doing a module to adjust the noise in a motor such that motor inside piston stroke is touching some mechanical part leads to small noise. I would like to adjust these by using sound sensoror presser or vibration sensors. I don't know which one to use in that sistuation but my guess is sound sensor. can some help me to choose sensor and company name. Note, the sound is very low(noise) so that the options shoud be consider this.
Hope some will give suggestions.

Old fashioned engineers (mechanics) used a stethoscope and their own ears for this.

Any modern ideas that can be smart. I am looking for sensible sound sensor...

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...

My water meter is submerged under water for about 95% of the year. Today I took a photograph of the inside of my water meter box because today is one of the rare days that my water meter is not submerged in water. Here is the photograph that I took of my water meter with the cover on: Here is a photograph I took of my water meter with the cover off: I edited the photograph to draw a red circle around a knob on my water meter. Is that knob that I drew a red circle around my meter...
