About photoemission final state effects

  1. Nov 21, 2013 #1
When doing photoelectron spectroscopy, you excite a system containing of n electrons using photons to a system that contains n-1 electrons + the photoelectron.

As I know, the information that you get out of the electron being measured from the electron analyzer does not contain the exact information of the inital n system because the electron travels through the surrounding dielectric.

My question is whether the information extracted from the photoelectron contains information also about the n-1 system.
