Advice on a good "Mathematical Methods for Physicists" Book?

Hope this is the right area to be posting it in.


I've checked out Tai Chow's book with the same title from my school library. There was a pretty brutal Amazon review on it, but overall I find it helpful. Does anyone have suggestions on better reference guides?

I am not familiar Tai Chow's book but based on the table of contents, a better book at around the same level would be Boas.
 
The book is fascinating. If your education includes a typical math degree curriculum, with Lebesgue integration, functional analysis, etc, it teaches QFT with only a passing acquaintance of ordinary QM you would get at HS. I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it.
