AI Thread Summary
Unusual warm spots on Mars may indicate the presence of "ice towers," akin to those found in Antarctica, according to researchers. These formations could potentially support life, as suggested by Nick Hoffman from Melbourne University during a conference. The discussion also touches on upcoming human missions to Mars, with various robotic missions planned by NASA and other countries through 2008. The exploration aims to enhance understanding of Martian geology and the potential for life. The findings highlight the intriguing possibilities for future Mars exploration.

THat's interesting...when is the next trip to mars? I mean with Humans. I know many robotics are being sent up from this year through I believe 2008, from NASA, russia, britain, and I believe Italy and Japan are taking part in one too.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
