If Vee is 5V, the base has to be 5-0.7v to make the BE fwd biased.

Great. I just simulated it, it works.
Did the same thing last week, damn thing didn't work. That's why I doubted my understanding.

The reason I started with PNP switch is bcoz I don't understand why the VCE sat of PNP pass transistor (in voltage regulator) is much less than NPN Vce sat.
 
Hi all I have some confusion about piezoelectrical sensors combination. I have recently moved into a new (rather ancient) house and had a few trips of my Residual Current breaker. I dug out my old Socket tester which tell me the three pins are correct. What I don't understand is, if the neutral is a current carrying conductor, which is then bonded to the ground conductor, why does current only flow back to its source and not on the ground path...
