Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around calculating speed using the formula speed = distance/time, specifically for a scenario where a distance of 10 meters is traveled in 15 seconds. Participants are examining the correctness of the calculated speed.

Discussion Character

  • Mathematical reasoning, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants are attempting to confirm the calculation of speed as 0.666667 m/s and are questioning whether this value is accurate based on the formula provided. There are also discussions about the importance of units in the calculation.

Discussion Status

Some participants have affirmed the original calculation, suggesting that the answer is correct while emphasizing the need to consider units in the computation. Multiple interpretations of the calculation method are being explored, but there is no explicit consensus on the final answer.

Contextual Notes

Participants are working within the constraints of a homework problem, focusing on verifying calculations rather than deriving new methods or solutions.

"travelled 10meters in 15 seconds = .666667 m/s" is correct. Just look at the units, and carry them along in your calculation. 10m/15s = 0.67m/s -- do the math on the units as well as the numbers, and use that to check that you've done the math correctly.
