AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a user's request for assistance in designing a perpetual motion machine, despite the scientific consensus deeming such machines impossible. The user expresses frustration over their thread being locked and feels that they are not receiving adequate help. Forum moderators emphasize that the request violates guidelines against overly speculative posts, reiterating that no one can assist in designing a device that defies fundamental physics. The user is encouraged to contact forum leaders privately if they wish to further contest the thread's status. Ultimately, the conversation highlights the challenges of discussing scientifically impossible concepts in academic forums.

Your thread clearly deserved to be locked. Read the PF Global Guidelines (which you agreed to), specifically the section entitled Overly Speculative Posts. This is about as open-and-shut a case as I've ever seen.

what? explain please. the thread was for people who can help me get what i need for designs to actually make the device i was talking about. i didn't expect for someone to be so short winded and just give me a link to something i can't even read. great help this site offers for a physics site...

You were talking about a perpetual motion machine, something which the scientific and engineering communities at large regard as an impossibility. In light of our Guidelines (which you agreed to), what other explanation could you possibly need?

No one can help you design a perpetual motion machine.

I don't think that you are really interested in getting help in physics (edit: At least it doesn't look that way from any of your responses to people who try to help). Anyway, I've explained this as much as I care to. If you wish to further plead your case for the thread to be unlocked, then you can contact the leaders of the Engineering section via private message. But as I said this is pretty open and shut.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
