AI Thread Summary
Upgrading a laptop's GPU is generally not feasible, as most laptops come with integrated components that limit upgrade options primarily to RAM and hard drives. While some high-end laptops may allow for GPU upgrades, they are typically expensive and less common. CPU upgrades were once possible in many mid-range to high-end laptops, but this has become rare in recent years. To determine if a specific laptop's GPU can be upgraded, users should consult the manufacturer's manual for details on replaceable components. For more information on upgrading graphics cards, resources are available online.

Most laptops have everything integrated. Most of the laptops that I've had experience with - the only thing that can be changed for improvements are RAM and hard drive.

Most but not all. The ones that can have the GPU upgraded typically are very expensive to purchase and even more expensive to upgrade.

CPU upgrades used to be possible on many of the medium to high end laptops. I have not been that deep under the hood of a laptop in about a decade so I can't say how common it still is. If I had to guess I would say that it has become rare outside of very high end models.

Try searching for the make and model of the computer for a manual. It usually specifies what components can be replaced.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
