AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around finding the original paper by Chandrasekhar that established the limit for white dwarf stars. Participants share links to relevant resources, including a thesis and a Wikipedia article that lists Chandrasekhar's work. There is some uncertainty about which specific paper is being referenced due to multiple publications by Chandrasekhar around the same time. One participant expresses gratitude for the shared links and indicates plans to revisit the topic after further study. This article contains an extensive list of references for the work of Chandrasekhar and others on white dwarf stars:

It's not clear which paper you are referring to, since Chandrasekhar published several papers at roughly the same time in different journals. Perhaps his Nobel Prize lecture clears up which paper is first.

that paper on white dwarf seems pretty informative and it will need me few days to re derive the equations, thanks a lot for the link, i will come back with other questions soon.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
