AI Thread Summary
The cosmic censorship hypothesis remains a contentious topic in theoretical physics, with debates on whether it has been proven false or remains unproven. Stephen Hawking's concession regarding the bet related to this hypothesis was based on technicalities rather than empirical evidence. The concept has not officially been classified as a hypothesis but is referred to as a conjecture. The ongoing controversy highlights the complexities and uncertainties surrounding the idea. Access to Hawking's paper is sought by participants in the discussion.

Has the cosmic censorship hypothesis proven to be false or is it still staying as an unproven hypothesis?

It's still controversial. Even though Hawking conceded the bet, it was on technical grounds, not observational evidence. Strictly speaking, cosmic censorship never ascended to the rank of hypothesis, it was always a conjecture.

Is Hawking's paper available on the net?

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...

Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b.
