DC Series Motor Drum Controller

AI Thread Summary
A DC series motor drum controller is a type of starter device used to control the operation of DC series motors, often serving as an alternative to traditional 3-point starters. The term "drum" in its name likely refers to the drum-like shape of the controller or its function in managing the motor's speed and torque. Users seek clarity on its design and operational principles, emphasizing the need for accurate information regarding its applications and terminology. The discussion highlights confusion around the term "drum," with some participants misinterpreting it as related to percussion instruments or large rotating drums. Understanding the drum controller's role in motor control is essential for effective usage in various applications.

Do you mean Drum as in Percussion?

Or maybe a big rotating drum like a cement mixer?

Oh no! by drum controller I mean a starter like device. Perhaps it is used instead of a 3 point starter to run a DC series machine, but iam not sure. I want accurate facts like why the name drum? etc.

Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
Hello dear reader, a brief introduction: Some 4 years ago someone started developing health related issues, apparently due to exposure to RF & ELF related frequencies and/or fields (Magnetic). This is currently becoming known as EHS. (Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which adverse symptoms are attributed.) She experiences a deep burning sensation throughout her entire body, leaving her in pain and exhausted after a pulse has occurred...
