AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on self-studying General Relativity, specifically through D'Inverno's textbook. The participant is currently focused on tensor analysis and is considering whether to engage with the "level two material" recommended by D'Inverno for first-time learners. The consensus is affirmative, suggesting that delving into the additional material is beneficial for a deeper understanding of the subject.

Dear all,

Some of you might know that I am self studying General relativity starting with learning about tensor analysis. I am using D'Inverno's book on GR and currently doing tensor analysis. Do you think that I should also study the "level two material" as stated by D'Inverno as a first time learner? Till now I've done them.

Will do

Thanks!

I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it. I wonder if there is a book that takes a theoretical approach to Turbulence starting from the full Navier Stokes Equations and developing from there, instead of jumping from...
