Effect of Telescope Aperture Size on Spectrometer Resolution

AI Thread Summary
Telescope aperture size significantly impacts the resolution of a spectrometer, as the Airy Disc acts similarly to a slit in this context. The dimensions of the Airy Disc directly influence resolution, indicating that larger apertures can enhance clarity. Additionally, the f-number of the telescope is also a crucial factor affecting resolution. The relationship between bandwidth sensitivity and aperture size is emphasized, highlighting their interconnectedness. Understanding these dynamics is essential for optimizing spectrometer performance.

A spectrometer is sensitive to band width. Band width and aperature are definitely connected.

Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation.
