Elementary number theory in physics?

AI Thread Summary
Elementary number theory has notable applications in physics, particularly in quantum computing and quantum information theory. The relationship between number theory and symmetry is emphasized as a fundamental aspect of physical theories. The book "Why Beauty is Truth" by Ian Stewart explores the connections between number theory, symmetry, and their relevance to physics. This intersection highlights the importance of mathematical concepts in understanding physical phenomena. Overall, the discussion underscores the significance of number theory in advancing modern physics.

Does elementary number theory have any applications in physics? If so how?

quantum computing, quantum information theory (well, stictly speaking, that's just information theory but it is hot topics in physics right now)

There's a lot of overlap between number theory and symmetry, which is pretty central to Physics. There's a book called "Why Beauty is Truth" by Ian Stewart that traces the development of number theory and its various off-shoots with an eye to symmetry and how it applies in Physics. I recommend it to anyone interested in such things.

I think it's easist first to watch a short vidio clip I find these videos very relaxing to watch .. I got to thinking is this being done in the most efficient way? The sand has to be suspended in the water to move it to the outlet ... The faster the water , the more turbulance and the sand stays suspended, so it seems to me the rule of thumb is the hose be aimed towards the outlet at all times .. Many times the workers hit the sand directly which will greatly reduce the water...
