AI Thread Summary
Using an emulator like ePSXe to play PlayStation One games on a computer is a popular option for gamers. However, extracting the BIOS from the original console can be complex. While some users seek simpler methods, the legality of downloading the BIOS is a gray area. If you own a PlayStation One, technically, you are allowed to create a backup of your BIOS, but downloading it from the internet can infringe on copyright laws. It is recommended to follow legal guidelines and consider using your own hardware to extract the necessary files for emulation.

I have a Playstation one sitting in my basement right now and I'm thinking about using an emulator to play the games on my computer. The problem is that it sounds complex to dump the BIOS in order to play them on my computer. Is there a simple way to do it, and is it really illegal to download the BIOS if I already own a PSX?

There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...

And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
