Engineering Linear Algebra: Complex Functions Help

I'm in an engineering linear algebra class and am struggling with the section of complex functions, if anyone has any information that could help me with the understanding of this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thread 'Finding the nth roots of a complex number'

There are two things I don't understand about this problem. First, when finding the nth root of a number, there should in theory be n solutions. However, the formula produces n+1 roots. Here is how. The first root is simply ##\left(r\right)^{\left(\frac{1}{n}\right)}##. Then you multiply this first root by n additional expressions given by the formula, as you go through k=0,1,...n-1. Thread 'Solve this problem that involves induction'

Hello, This is the attachment, the steps to solution are pretty clear. I guess there is a mistake on the highlighted part that prompts this thread. Ought to be ##3^{n+1} (n+2)-6## and not ##3^n(n+2)-6##. Unless i missed something, on another note, i find the first method (induction) better than second one (method of differences).
