Environmental Engineering w/Biology

AI Thread Summary
Completing a Drafting and Design technical program has led to a consideration of dual majoring in biology with a focus on botany alongside a civil/environmental engineering degree. This combination could open diverse career opportunities, particularly in fields that intersect engineering and biological sciences. Potential job roles include botanical engineering, which applies engineering principles to plant biology, and positions in environmental consulting, landscape architecture, and ecological restoration. The integration of botany into engineering studies can enhance understanding of sustainable practices and environmental impact, making graduates more versatile in the job market. Resources such as academic papers and Wikipedia entries on biological engineering provide additional insights into this interdisciplinary approach.

I just recently finished a Drafting and Design technical program at my local cc, and I have been planning to go into civil/environmental engineering for some time now. In the past few months, however, I have been introduced to the world of Botany through a biologist friend of mine. I'm curious as to if it would be beneficial to possibly dual major in biology with a focus on botany along with my engineering degree. I've completed most of my core classes, so I'll have plenty of time. What sort of jobs does one enable themselves for with a path like this?

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
