Hi,

I am pretty new to this so I hope that someone can help me. I am trying to power a 10' strand of rope lights (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G6MNF2/?tag=pfamazon01-20) for 3.5 to 4 hours. The lights are mounted on a box that is not near an electrical outlet. Is it possible to do without using something like a car battery? Also, I could put a switch on it so that the lights don't run continually. I'm not sure how to do this so I thought I would ask here for some help.

Do you know what voltage and current they need?
 
Hi vk6kro, I think the voltage is 120V. I don't know about the current. I might be able to find out but I'm not sure.

Edit: A couple of 6v lantern batteries should run 10ft of led rope lights for quite a while.

I used to be an HVAC technician. One time I had a service call in which there was no power to the thermostat. The thermostat did not have power because the fuse in the air handler was blown.
