A circuit that measures two resonant frequencies and compares them with an LM741. One 555 is a metal detector with a coil of wire, and the other 555 is to be matched in resonance.

Any idea what the name of this circuit is? I thought it was an OP Amp differential amplifier, for metal detection, but as you can imagine double checking that on google is a little difficult

That would be a mixer.

The two oscillators produce an output above the limit of human hearing, but when the two mix, the difference frequency is audible.
 
Hey guys. I have a question related to electricity and alternating current. Say an alien fictional society developed electricity, and settled on a standard like 73V AC current at 46 Hz. While I was rolling out a shielded cable, a though came to my mind - what happens to the current flow in the cable if there came a short between the wire and the shield in both ends of the cable? For simplicity, lets assume a 1-wire copper wire wrapped in an aluminum shield. The wire and the shield has the same cross section area.
