AI Thread Summary
The issue involves a PCI GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB DDR graphics card not functioning with a PC133 GfXcel motherboard. When the card is inserted, the PC powers on but fails to reach POST, remaining unresponsive with only fans and LEDs active. Initial troubleshooting included adjusting BIOS settings to set the default graphics adapter to PCI, but this did not resolve the problem. Potential solutions discussed include checking for onboard video that may need to be disabled, as well as ensuring the graphics card is properly configured in the BIOS, including IRQ assignment. The motherboard's compatibility with the graphics card and the need for specific jumper settings are also considerations.

Hey, I've been having a problem that's been making my skull crack.

I'm trying to figure out why this PCI GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB DDR will not work in this PC133 GfXcel motherboard. When I insert the card and start the PC up, it sort of powers up, with the fans and LEDs going, but it won't go to the POST or boot up. It just sits there making a quiet hum. First I thought it was my BIOS settings, so I messed around with them, changed the default Graphics Adapter to PCI instead of AGP (It doesn't even have an AGP slot), but no results turned up. So, if anyone has any suggestions, please say so. This is bugging me like crazy. If you want to know the rest of the specifications, look below:

600 MHz Celeron
4 GB Hard Drive IDE Master, 6.5 GB Hard Drive IDE Slave
384 MB SD RAM
Windows XP Pro
PC133 GfXcel Motherboard with SiS 6xx Chipset
Using most up to date version of its BIOS

Again, thanks for any help.

I think that you have to use software for configuring your PCI card to change some system settings. The latest PCI cards are coming with setup disks.

Does you MB have onboard video? If so you will need to find out how to disable it. On some MBs it is nearlly impossible.

Possibly a jumper on the motherboard...

Also, you may neet to assign it an irq from bios setup.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
