Harold Camping's Predicted Rapture: October 21, 2011

  • Thread starter Thread starter Jimmy Snyder
  • Start date Start date
AI Thread Summary
Harold Camping has revised his prediction for the rapture, now stating it will occur on October 21, 2011, following an earlier prediction for May 21, 2011. This has sparked a mix of skepticism and humor among participants, with some expressing disbelief in Camping's claims and others joking about the situation. Discussions include plans for a "rapture chat" on the new date, with lighthearted comments about bringing pizza and references to pop culture, such as "Jurassic Park." Participants also speculate on the potential for Camping to continue changing his predictions if the October date passes without incident. The thread touches on broader themes of belief and the absurdity of such predictions, with some referencing a tragic incident involving a mother who attempted to harm her children in connection with the rapture belief. Overall, the conversation blends humor with critique of Camping's credibility and the implications of his predictions.

Hmm, he should really start reading the bible  Even an atheist like me knows it better than him...

Anyway, anybody up for a rapture chat in october 21?

In his defense, I got raptured to heaven.

I for one am looking forward to this. I have been wanting to see a rapture ever since I first saw Jurassic Park.

I'll bring the pizza.

I thought Snyder was joking, at first, but I guess not.

I'm going Camping on July 7th, 2011. I've done it for twenty+ years now, on the same weekend, in the same spot. Every time, it is simply a rapturous* experience.

I invited someone special this time. Actually, it's the first time I've invited someone. Usually I just tell people it's cool.

I remember in my "pre-Camping" years, on the second weekend of July, that everyone seemed to disappear. I would ask; "Where is everyone?". And they would say; "They've gone to the Fair". And I would ask; "What's the Fair?" And they would say; "It's some stupid hippy Fair".

Idiots.

hmmm...

I wonder if this is how the Rapture rumour started some 2000 years ago.

And here I thought it already came and I was left behind to wander the streets of Detroit. Then somewhere during my second cup of coffee, I realized, it was just another work day.
Guess I won't disassemble my post rapture looting cart yet, there is still hope.

Yeah, then after all is fine on Oct 22, the rapture date will change.
And again, and again, and again...

Or, maybe he is just clinically insane.
I'll go with that, and keep my battery for someone worthwhile...

Saturday Night Live on Oct 22 should be interesting, or may be not.

When realizing an error in one's prediction, simply recalibrate.

As for dates, there's 11/11/11 (time 11:11) or 11/20/2011 (pick a time 11:20 or 20:11).

More to follow.
