SUMMARY

The TI Jacinto is a dual-core processor, specifically the DRA440, featuring an ARM926Ej core, designed for automotive and consumer markets. It is distinct from the TI Piccolo microcontroller series and is primarily focused on media processing for infotainment applications. Documentation on Jacinto is scarce, and it appears that TI may be transitioning to branding this technology under the DaVinci name. Microsoft is also supporting Jacinto through its Microsoft Auto 3.1 software package.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of dual-core processor architecture
  • Familiarity with TI Jacinto and DaVinci platforms
  • Knowledge of automotive infotainment systems
  • Experience with real-time operating systems and DSP software
NEXT STEPS
  • Research TI Jacinto architecture and specifications
  • Explore TI DaVinci platform capabilities and applications
  • Learn about Microsoft Auto 3.1 and its integration with TI products
  • Investigate multimedia processing in automotive systems
USEFUL FOR

Automotive engineers, embedded systems developers, and anyone involved in designing multimedia-enabled products for automotive applications will benefit from this discussion.

Heard About this TI product :Jacinto ??

has anyone heard or worked on TI Jacinto.
I was not able to find any documentation on this.
Is this same as TI Davinci?

This class explores a real-life example of integrating a real-time operating system with TI AVME DSP software on the TI Jacinto/ DaVinci platform for automotive and consumer markets. Attendees will learn how design choices for multimedia-enabled products can impact time-to-market, material costs, reliability and upgradeability.

I had not heard of "Jacinto" earlier.
It seems to be a dual core processor : DRA440. with an ARM926Ej core,
It is not related to Piccolo!

ha! it is hard to find much on it. i get the impression it's not going to be marketed publicly because they don't want people hacking it. here's a pdf, one of only 3 jacinto docs showing up at ti.com. and microsoft seems to be supporting it too, in a Microsoft Auto 3.1 software package.

i suspect you won't find any documentation for this unless you can somehow discover what the actual TI product used is. it may be very similar to some other off-the-shelf TI product.

edit: you know, on second thought, maybe they're just abandoning the Jacinto code name and going with branding as Davinci

I think this statement helps

" Jacinto (552MHz DSP, 348MHz ARM926E-JS and OMAP5946) a cost effective media processing engine for Automotive Infotainment applications, mainly to enable head-unit, rear seat entertainment and digital radio designers to create scalable reusable hardware and software platforms."
