Schools Can I Apply for Grad School After May/June?

AI Thread Summary
Graduate school applications typically require undergraduate transcripts, which can be obtained before graduation. Students can request transcripts at any time, and these will reflect all completed coursework, allowing for timely applications even if graduation occurs after application deadlines. Most graduate programs have application deadlines in December for the following fall semester, meaning students should apply during their senior year. Conditional admissions may be possible, but generally, students can submit their current transcripts to meet application requirements. Additionally, many graduate programs do not offer a spring semester, which could limit options for those graduating later.

Hi,

This thing just popped into my head. Although I am 2-3 years away from applying for grad school, is there any way to apply for grad school, fall session, if you can get your undergrad transcripts not before may-june?

Typically, applications close before december of the previous year. And during applications, I would require my undergrad transcripts.

But what if I can graduate undergrad. in the coming may/june, i.e. the one after the application deadlines close in december...

Is there any workaround this? Maybe some kind of conditional admission, till i show my official transcripts?

Or do I have no option but to wait more than half a year after graduating and join in the spring sem?

And I also heard that many schools don't have spring sem? Would that considerably reduce the no. of schools I could apply to ?

You just send them your transcript as of the point when you're applying, and they admit (or reject) you based on that. This is what everyone does everywhere. Don't sweat it.

You can get your transcripts at any time; you don't have to wait until you graduate to ask for them. They will include your grades on all classes taken up to that point, and that's what grad schools will judge you based on. Most applications are due nearly a year before you'd start the program, so fall of your senior year.

Thanks guys...!

After a year of thought, I decided to adjust my ratio for applying the US/EU(+UK) schools. I mostly focused on the US schools before, but things are getting complex and I found out that Europe is also a good place to study. I found some institutes that have professors with similar interests. But gaining the information is much harder than US schools (like you have to contact professors in advance etc). For your information, I have B.S. in engineering (low GPA: 3.2/4.0) in Asia - one SCI...
I graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2020. Since there were limited opportunities in my country (mostly teaching), I decided to improve my programming skills and began working in IT, first as a software engineer and later as a quality assurance engineer, where I’ve now spent about 3 years. While this career path has provided financial stability, I’ve realized that my excitement and passion aren’t really there, unlike what I felt when studying or doing research in physics. Working in IT...
Hello, I’m an undergraduate student pursuing degrees in both computer science and physics. I was wondering if anyone here has graduated with these degrees and applied to a physics graduate program. I’m curious about how graduate programs evaluated your applications. In addition, if I’m interested in doing research in quantum fields related to materials or computational physics, what kinds of undergraduate research experiences would be most valuable?
