Has anyone developed an approximation for the effects of different heights of sea waves on a pleasure boat performance? For example, if in calm water, a powerboat's speed is 20 kts., what would that boat's speed be if the sea conditions changed to 4-6 ft waves while holding all the other parameters constant (engine rpm,etc.)?

I am honestly out of my area, but I would suspct these effects could all be related to studies of the Froude number for a hull. Perhaps that will give you a starting point. Sorry I am not much help on this one.

I'm trying to decide what size and type of galvanized steel I need for 2 cantilever extensions. The cantilever is 5 ft.
