Hubble's Law and it's relation to Quantum Mechanics

AI Thread Summary
Hubble's Law describes the expansion of the universe, suggesting that galaxies move away from us at speeds proportional to their distance. While many scientists speculate on a connection between Hubble's Law and Quantum Mechanics (QM), the relationship remains unclear and is considered an area of ongoing research. Some argue that cosmological models can be developed under the assumption of a homogeneous and isotropic universe, which leads to the formulation of Hubble's Law. The current understanding of this connection is still in its early stages, likened to an "elephant in a dark room." Further exploration is needed to clarify how Hubble's Law might integrate with quantum theories.

Can someone say a few words on Hubble's law as (if) it relates to QM?

Most scientists believe there is a connection, but, we are still in the 'elephant in a dark room' phase of discovery.

I don't think there much of a connection.

You can get a lot of cosmology by assuming that the universe is homogenous and isotropic. Once you assume that one part of the universe is more or less like another part, then you end up with something like Hubble's law.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
This thread is dedicated to the beauty and awesomeness of our Universe. If you feel like it, please share video clips and photos (or nice animations) of space and objects in space in this thread. Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b. I start this...
