I am doing a physics course, and I while reading the textbooks, it seems the writers assume that I am already introduced to energy transformation equations. I have never done them previously as I have skipped some courses to get to the one I am in. It seems that thsi is a very basic concept but I am having trouble perfecting the equations, since there are many variables that go into the equation. For example, an electric kettle boiling water would be something like: Electrical energy->thermal energy

I feel as though I am missing something in this equation, so I am wondering if somebody could possibly direct me to an online introduction to these equations. Any answers, and any help is appreciated. Thank you
